Collinder 11 is an open star cluster in the constellation Cassiopeia, also known as Cr 11 and NGC 436.
It is a small, compact group of stars about 9,800 light-years away (roughly 3 kiloparsecs), spanning around 5 arcminutes.
It stands out as a tight clump of mostly faint stars, which William Herschel described in 1787 as a small, compressed cluster of irregular shape.
It sits about 1° northwest of the much better known Owl Cluster (NGC 457) and is estimated to be about 84 million years old.
At magnitude 8.8 it is a modest target for binoculars or a small telescope.
