Collinder 296 (C95) is a bright, relatively young open star cluster, also known as NGC 6025 and Melotte 139.
The cluster lies on the border between the constellations Triangulum Australe and Norma; its northern section is located in Norma and its
southern section in Triangulum Australe, although catalogs assign the cluster to Triangulum Australe.
It is located at a distance of approximately 2,400 to 2,700 light-years and spans about 12 arcminutes.
The cluster stands out as a compact, V-shaped group of white and blue-white stars at the edge of the rich Milky Way. According to an older study,
the cluster has "slightly more bright members than the Pleiades" and is useful for studying gas and dust in the Norma Arm. Its age is
estimated at 40 to 69 million years (Gaia). It is also one of the star clusters in which "blue stragglers" have been found.
Nicolas-Louis de Lacaille discovered the object in 1751.
