IC 443, also known as the Jellyfish Nebula, is a supernova remnant located in the constellation
Gemini. It is the expanding debris field of a massive star that exploded thousands of years ago.
The nebula displays a complex network of filaments, arcs, and shock fronts created as the
supernova blast wave interacts with surrounding interstellar gas and dust.
IC 443 is rich in hydrogen emission and contains regions of strong ionization. The structure is highly detailed, with twisted filaments and bright
knots shaped by the turbulent aftermath of the explosion.
