M2 is one of the largest and most impressive globular clusters in the northern sky.
It contains several hundred thousand ancient stars packed into a dense, bright core
surrounded by a rich halo of fainter members. The cluster’s high stellar density and
smooth radial structure make it a rewarding target for both visual observers and
astrophotographers. Its stars are predominantly old and metal-poor, offering a glimpse
into the early evolutionary history of the Milky Way.
