The Schiller–Zucchius basin is a large, ancient impact structure near the southwestern lunar limb, so degraded and fragmented that its rings are difficult to trace. Much of the basin has been reshaped by later impacts, ejecta deposits, and limb foreshortening, causing it to be overlooked compared to more prominent multi‑ring basins. It is included in the Lunar 100 because it represents a badly degraded and often unnoticed basin, illustrating how some major lunar structures become obscured by age, erosion, and complex viewing geometry.
