NGC 3379, also known as Messier 105, is a bright elliptical galaxy located in the constellation
Leo. Classified as an E1 galaxy, it has a smooth, nearly spherical appearance dominated by an
old stellar population. The galaxy shows little dust or active star formation, giving it a
clean and uniform structure.
Deep imaging reveals a faint outer halo and subtle gradients in brightness, along with nearby
companion galaxies that form part of the Leo I Group. NGC 3379 is a classic example of an
elliptical galaxy.
