NGC 869 (left) is one half of the famous Double Cluster in the constellation Perseus, paired with its neighbor NGC 884.
It is a rich open cluster containing young, hot blue stars and several bright supergiants. The cluster has a dense core and stands
out clearly against the rich Milky Way background.
Together with NGC 869, NGC 884 forms one of the most impressive and easily recognizable cluster pairs in the northern sky.
