This second sundial on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem is a remarkable piece of Islamic astronomy. The marble slab features a metal gnomon and an Arabic inscription at the bottom, located on the southern colonnade. The inscription likely details the founder, the construction year (Hijri calendar), and its purpose: determining prayer times (Dhuhr and Asr). Created by engineer Rushdi al-Imam (early 20th century, circa 1907 or 1927), this precision instrument reflects advanced knowledge of the sun's path in an era before modern clocks.
