Trumpler 15 (Tr 15) is an open cluster located in the northern part of the Carina Nebula.
It is older and less compact than the nearby clusters Trumpler 14 and Trumpler 16, but
still contains several hot, massive stars. Gaia DR3 and modern cluster catalogs place
Tr 15 at a distance of about 2.4 kpc (approximately 7,800 light-years).
With an estimated age of around 8 million years, Tr 15 represents an earlier generation
of star formation in the Carina region. Its more dispersed structure contrasts with the
extremely young and compact Tr 14, yet it remains an important component of the Carina OB1
stellar association.
• Trumpler 14 (northern part of the Carina Nebula)
• Trumpler 15 (slightly further east, above Tr 16)
• Trumpler 16 (central, around Eta Carinae itself)
