Arp 321 • HCG 40

Arp 321 — HCG 40

Arp 321 corresponds to Hickson Compact Group 40, a tight group of interacting galaxies showing tidal distortions and faint outer structures. Arp 321 consists of: MCG -01-25-008 through MCG -01-25-012

Challenge: The absorption lane between -008 and -010 (between c and b)

I can imagine that there are only a few people who get excited about such a photo. But when you know that this is located 300 million light-years away, and was taken with a 106mm F5, it is quite special.
