Arp Catalog

The Arp catalogue (1966) is a collection of 338 peculiar galaxies compiled by Halton Arp. Each entry was selected because it showed unusual structure, interaction, distortion or asymmetry that could help astronomers understand galaxy evolution. The catalogue is therefore not a list of the brightest or most impressive galaxies, but a systematic inventory of objects whose morphology deviates from normal galactic forms.
